Big Bang Theory May Return But There’s A Condition… And It’s Not Looking Good

After a twist that we didn’t see coming, Big Bang Theory stars have offered a cut in their salaries to allow for their co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch to be paid $450,000 per episode.

Bialik and Rauch who play Amy Farrah Fowler and Bernadette Rostenkowski respectively have asked for a pay increase if the show was to continue. The Big Bang Theory has been running on CBS since September 2007, for ten seasons and 224 episodes and has been a huge success for Warner Brothers raking in $1 Billion since it began.

The show is currently averaging 18 Million viewers an episode, so it’s no surprise they’ve been trying secure more seasons of this hit show. This isn’t the first time the show has had contract negotiations causing people to wonder if the show will return, however, the last time the show came out of negotiations with a three-season renewal.

The current end game this time is two season, whether those will be the last two seasons or not is unknown to us but we’re hoping for the best! One major contributing factor to this possible renewal is that of the other five main cast members Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali) and Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) have stated they will each sacrifice $100,000 of their paychecks to contribute to their earnings.

The original cast of five each reason a massive $1 Million an episode, this is $800,000 more than their co-stars who are now major players in the hit series in main roles. So now this would mean that they’d be paid $450,000 and while that’s a big increase, it’s unfortunate that these two actresses have been grossly underpaid for so long.

Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have been starring in the show since season 4, originally in a recurring capacity, they were later promoted to starring roles. When you look at the time since they joined the cast and their screen time they share almost equally with their co-stars their salary boils down to how famous they are and it’s sad because they have worked on this show for years and it’s one thing to not be paid the same as their co-stars but to receive a salary that low is unacceptable.

It makes you wonder if their co-star’s sacrifice is enough. Here’s hoping Big Bang Theory will come out with more seasons and happy actors.
