Britain’s Tallest Man And Game Of Thrones’ Star Neil Fingleton Passes Away At 36

As always, death is something you can’t necessarily run from, thus it’s always sad to hear the news that someone has met their end.


In this case we pay homage to British actor Neil Fingleton who has sadly passed away at age 36. Fingleton’s name is synonymous with that of ‘Britain’s tallest man’ at 7.7 Fingleton is in the Guinness book of records. A lot of people know him as ‘Mag the Mighty’ a character he portrayed in the highly acclaimed and long-running HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.

Neil also took on small roles in 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’, 2013’s ’47 Ronin’, and 2015’s ‘Jupiter Ascending’. Fingleton was born in 1980, in Durham a city in England. After attending a basketball camp in Connecticut he decided to attend high school in the United States of America when he was 16. He moved to Worcester, Massachusetts in 1997 and attended a catholic school before graduating in 2000.

During his final year of high school he helped their basketball team to the Central Massachusetts Division, this earned him a scholarship to the United States First. Fingleton had a short basketball career, spending eight years in the USA attending High School and college, graduating from the College of the Holy Cross in 2004 with a degree in History.

He played for numerous US college teams and then playing professionally in Greece, Italy, and Spain. When he returned to England his desire was to become an actor with hopes of relocating again to L.A. It’s was reported that Neil passed away due to complications following heart failure on Saturday. Many friends, family and fans of Neil Fingleton have shown their support via twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other mediums.

A fan of the popular ‘Game of Thrones’ television series tweeted a picture of himself and with the actor. The caption was a heartfelt statement to commemorate him ‘Rip to the giant that is Neil Fingleton mag the mighty game of thrones rest in peace mate gutted’. Life and death go hand in hand, it is always a tragedy to lose anyone no matter how young or how old they may be. This is no different; our condolences go out to his loved one.
