Did Will Smith Just Transform Himself To Uncle Phil?!
Back in the 90’s Will Smith starred in one of the most recognised sitcoms of all time; The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Running for six seasons of 148 episodes the show is considered of the best sitcoms of the 90’s.
During its six-year run, Will Smith starred as a fictionalised version of himself ‘Will Smith’ with James Avery playing the Fresh Prince’s relative, Phil. Recently Will Smith posted a photo online which has sparked a conversation about how similar the two look. Will Smith recently bungee jumped from Victoria Falls, the whole thing was caught on camera.
Instead of admiring the nature that surrounded smith or the rainbow they chose to talk about the similarities between Smith and his on-screen uncle. Fans decided to have fun with the situation one tweeting an amusing play on the show’s theme song. “Now this is a story all about how my face looks fat from upside down, I like to take a minute just sit right there, I look like Uncle Phil when I fly through the air…”
Avery did pass on back in 2013 on December 31st due to complications during his open heart surgery. Many paid their respects and the Fresh Prince co- stars paid tribute. “Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery,” the Men in Black star wrote. “Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace.”
Uncle Phil’s onscreen daughter Ashley (who was played by Tatyana Ali) tweeted: “James was my teacher my protector & the most magnificent actor. We’re feeling his loss very deeply. He’ll always be a part of me #JamesAvery.” It’s unsure as to how Will Smith feels about being compared to his old co-star saying nothing regarding the situation.
Will Smith now 48 is probably older than Avery was when he played Uncle Phil so looking like him is possible. Smith’s become a household name since fresh prince went off the air. He stars in blockbuster movies but clearly, his television past isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon. Maybe a reboot’s on the horizon.
