Director Confirms That Godzilla Vs King Kong Movie May Be Happening!

Many studios this day are creating cinematic universes. Marvel being the first to start their cinematic universe with Iron Man in 2008. Since then, DC has started the DC Universe, The Mummy kicks of universals Dark Universe.

MonsterVerse is Warner Brothers attempt at a shared universe and will see it Warner Brothers bring together some of history’s biggest monsters in history. MonsterVerse is in association with Legendary Entertainment.
Both production companies have produced many versions of Godzilla and King Kong in the past but they now plan to work together to build on their universe.

In 2014 they released Godzilla which was a reboot of the franchise which was last on screen in 1998. This ended up serving as an introduction to the shared universe as well. Since 1954 Godzilla movies have been produced. A total of 29 has been made thus making it the longest running movie franchise.

A lot of people will say the film from the late 90s is their favourite but the 2014 film received moderately good reviews and performed well at the box office. The film featured a Godzilla with a height of 350 feet, this meant it was the tallest in the franchise’s history.

The recent reboot for King Kong also received positive reviews and has further instilled confidence in this new universe. The 2017 Kong: Skull Island featured a stellar cast featuring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman and Samuel L. Jackson.

In 2020 we will see these faithful monsters square off. Adam Wingard has been apparently been brought on to direct the film which pits Kong against Godzilla. Before that, however, we will be getting a solo Godzilla sequel in two years. The sequel will feature Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights).

Gareth Edwards who directed the 2014 Godzilla wanted it to be a standalone film. The ending was the ending and there was no need for a sequel. However, nothing prompts a sequel more like money and the film grossed $529.1 million on a budget of $160 million.

We’re excited to see what becomes of our favourite monsters in the upcoming Godzilla sequel in 2019 and the 2020 features battle between Godzilla and King Kong!
