The former wrestling champion is promoting his current movie ‘Baywatch’ and when asked he chose his words very carefully. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for the [political] process.” When Clinton and Trump were facing off for the opportunity to be the next president he said; “I feel I’m in a position now where my word carries a lot of weight.” He decided to not pick any sides between the two; “It might sway an opinion, which I didn’t want to do.”

The 45-year-actor has said that now he may be considering it. Johnson said that reporters asked the question more and more if he’s running. “A year ago, it started coming up more and more. There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, ‘Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.’ I didn’t want to be flippant. It was without a doubt the biggest shock of the elections that ex-reality tv show host Donald Trump was sworn into office.

Johnson was even asked his opinion on Trump’s first 100-plus days in office; “Personally, I feel that if I were president, poise would be important. Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody … I wouldn’t shut [anyone who disagreed] out. I would actually include them. The first thing we’d do is we’d come and sit down and we’d talk about it. It’s hard to categorise right now how I think he’s doing, other than to tell you how I would operate,” he said.

He did say however in regards to Trump’s behaviour with the media and his constant rants about their fake news that; “Even if we disagree, we’ve got to figure it out,” he said. “If there’s a large number of people disagreeing, there might be something I’m not seeing, so let me see it. Let me understand it.”
