Famous For ‘Aliens’ And ‘Twister’ Actor Bill Paxton Passes Away At 61

William “Bill” Paxton, Actor and Director has died at the age of 61 following Heart surgery his family announced on Sunday.


Bills family released a statement saying “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery. A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.

Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.” Bill Paxton got his start with small parts during the 80’s in such films as “stripes”, “Streets of Fire”, “The Terminator” and support roles in the likes of “Aliens”.

He went on to role in some of the biggest blockbusters of the 90’s, “True Lies” and “Titanic”, “Apollo 13” and landed the lead role in the hit disaster movie “Twister”. During his career, he directed films such as “Frailty” and “The greatest game ever played”. His more recent career focused on television, earning an Emmy nomination for the mini Series “Hatfield’s and McCoy’s”, and starring in the HBO series “Big Love”.

His most recent role in the CBS cop drama “Training Day” premiered this month. It is unclear how his death will affect the future of “Training Day”. Actor Kick Gurry who starred with Bill Paxton in the 2014 film “Edge of Tomorrow” stated, “He was so beloved,” Gurry said. ‘All of us on the set of ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ idolized him. Down to the model makers who were painting the suits we would wear. They loved Bill more than anything.”

A tweet from Arnold Schwarzenegger read “Bill Paxton could play any role, but he was best at being Bill — a great human being with a huge heart. My thoughts are with his family,” Bill will be seen in the upcoming thriller “The Circle” with Emma Watson.
