In a recent message released late Monday night by on the group’s social media pages, the members stated they had pleaded with Cabello to group another chance. They even went as far as organising a group counselling session for which Cabello was a no show. They went on to say they had been told back in mid-November that Cabello’s intended to leave after Sunday’s final Jingle Ball performance.

Cabello said the same thing when she announced her departure. “Over the past several months we have consistently made every effort to sit down and discuss the future of Fifth Harmony with Camila,” the post stated. “We have spent the past year and a half (since her initial solo endeavor) trying to communicate to her and her team all of the reasons why we felt Fifth Harmony deserved at least one more album of her time, given the success of this past year that we’d all worked so hard for.

We called for group meetings which she refused, we asked L.A. Reid and the label to step in and try to set meetings, which again, she refused. We even went as far as group counselling which she did not show up to. So no, after months of rejection from her and her team, these supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded. We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual.”

The message was signed by remaining members Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane. Ally Brooke Hernandez and Normani Kordei. It ended with a more upbeat: “onward and upward.” The pop group formed in 2012 when Simon Cowell put them together in Season 2 of American X Factor. They have enjoyed two top five albums, Reflection and 7/27 as well as a top five Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Work From Home”.

Cabello has been doing some work without the rest of the group and has had success with top 20 number “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes as well as her latest collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly “Bad Things,” which reached the Hot 100 top 10 last week.
