When oh when will celebrities learn. Their stardom does not make them above the law and thanks to the antics of many of them, just makes them all the more suspicious.

While marijuana is becoming legal in more and more places, Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony fame was reportedly arrested for possession of dope. Spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority confirmed reports that Jauregui has been charged with possession. Her lawyer, attorney Dina LaPolt, is insistent that no arrest has been made.

He released the following statement: “Lauren Jauregui was not arrested and detained as reported, but simply given a citation for possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance.” He added “She will address the matter appropriately through the legal system. This will not interfere with any future scheduled performances or activities.” We all know the law does work slightly differently when you are famous and have a good lawyer on your side.

Reports state that marijuana was discovered in her carry on luggage at Dulles International Airport, Washington. This took place on Tuesday night (December 13). Airport security contacted the local police. Jauregui was believed to be on her way to Brazil with the rest of the Fifth Harmony gang where they are due to be headline act at the Vevo Brasil’s FunPopFun Festival Wednesday.

Semming undeterred by the possession arrest, Jauregui’s has been busy on social media regarding other issues. Early on Wednesday she posted information to Instagram on resources to assist with the continuous conflicts in Aleppo, Syria. Just before the flight she was sending tweets in support of the civilians of Aleppo. Fifth harmony had a recent massive hit with Worth It and have two studio albums so far.

Jauregui is certainly no stranger to controversy, recently announcing that she is bisexual. This announcement was made in an open letter to Trump voters. She has made no mention of the incident yet on social media or otherwise but fellow singer JoJo tweeted “#FreeLauren.” And obviously many fans jumped on the bandwagon with their opinions. I am sure the entire incident will die down before too long and Jauregui continue her music.
