Jude Law Will Return As ‘Dumbledore’ In Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel!

Many people are excited to return to the J.K Rowling’s wizarding world and now we know who will play the role of a younger Dumbledore.

Jude Law has been officially cast as the master wizard in the new ‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them’ sequel. David Yates is set to return to the director’s chair with stars Eddie Redmayne (Who plays Newt Scamander) and Johnny Depp (who plays Gellert Grindelwald) are set to return. As we all know the character of Albus Dumbledore is one that is so iconic in the wizarding world and was played by two actors during the Harry Potter franchise.

It was originally played by Richard Harris in the first two films ‘The Philosophers Stone’ and ‘The Chamber of Secrets’. After his death in 2002, Michael Gambon replaced him for the remainder of the franchise. Now, two-time academy award winning Jude Law will play the Hogwarts headmaster long before the original film’s storyline. In the Fantastic Beast 2 film, Dumbledore is a transfiguration professor at the school for witchcraft and wizardry.

The role has been considered for so many British actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong, and even Christian Bale! Rowling returns as the screenwriter for this second instalment which is set in a rather dark time for the wizarding world. Scamander and friends are forced to make alliances against the evils they will soon face.

Toby Emmerich has this to say; “Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him,” Yates said. “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

The Warner Brothers President and Chief content editor went on to say; “As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ cast, playing a character so universally adored,” Emmerich added. “Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. Family for years and we’re excited to embark on this new adventure with him.”

This is the second instalment in the planned five film series and the first film grossed more than $813 million at the box office. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 debuts Nov. 16th, 2018.
