Lady Gaga Hits Body Shamers Right In The Feels: “I’m Proud Of My Body”

Lady Gaga has responded to critics and body-shamers that had plenty to say about her body and figure after her brilliant halftime show at the recent Super Bowl.

The 13-minute halftime show was viewed by over 117 million people. Some of the comments directed at the 30-year-old “Bad Romance” singer were especially vicious and came after more positive comments regarding her performance. Deciding not to take the mean comments to heart, Gaga used Instagram to speak out on the criticism on Tuesday, 7 February.

“I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too,” read the caption of a photo she shared of herself during the performance. “No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga.”

Some of the mean spirited comments were:

  • “Am I the only one that peeped lady Gaga had a muffin top / lil pudge there”
  • “Lady Gaga ate too many babies at spirit cooking. Her tummy is a LITTLE CHUBBY #Halftime”
  • “Lady Gaga coming in with the beer gut”
  • “Lady Gaga should’ve been in the gym getting ready for this performance cause that lil gut was not cute”

Those were just a few of the many negative, nasty comments people made about the star. I imagine they all have perfect bodies themselves and have achieved massive stardom. So, what was a stellar performance has now been overshadowed by her apparent figure shortfalls. The trolls were commenting on her figure in the minute, silver hot pants she wore with football pads after whipping of her Versace bodysuit.

Fortunately there was enough positive feedback and defence from her “Little Monsters” who shot back at the haters for their comments on Gaga’s figure. AND not being ashamed about having a bit of stomach fat, like every NORMAL HUMAN BEING! @ladygaga earned some real respect from me tonight.

A few of their comments read:

  • “People are saying @ladygaga has a gut?! ???? Well if that’s a gut I’d like to have one please. Her stomach looks amazing”
  • “Shoutout to lady gaga’s stomach roll for showing girls that you don’t need to have a perfect body to absolutely kill it”
  • “Are people actually fat-shaming @ladygaga ??”
  • “I’d give my right arm to have that ‘gut’ of hers????#SuperBowl”

A good number of fans were also grateful that Gaga was proudly displaying her “less than perfect” stomach.
