The 37-year-old mother of two is no stranger to the land of ‘unscripted’ reality television, previously starring in her younger daughter’s hit show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The reality star has been keeping out of the public eye to avoid her transformation staying a secret right up until its reveal.

Shannon said on The Domenic Nati Show (an IHeartRadio show that airs Friday’s) that; “(I) definitely did not wear a fat suit,” June said. “I was fat.” In 2015 Mama June weighed 460 pounds which is the heaviest she’s ever been. After health concerns, she began taking weight loss seriously and started with gastric surgery. The Gastric surgery is a procedure in which the stomach is divided into an upper pouch and a lower larger ‘remnant’ pouch.

The small intestine is then rearranged to connect both. Shannon also had a tummy tuck, breast lift, and excess skin removed. She also stated that she has no intentions of having more surgical work done. Mama June embarked on her healthy journey with the help of a trainer and a fitness plan. Her goal is show off her new body to now ex Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson’, at his February Wedding to his new girlfriend. “I never had like an ideal weight in mind,” She had to say to the radio personality Domenic Nati. “I’m pretty much happy where I’m at right now.”

June’s four daughters all had mixed reaction to the news with Alana (11) and Lauryn (17) initially rejected this new phase in Mama June’s life. They eventually joined in on the healthy eating and fitness plan. Lauren told E! News “At first, we didn’t want to participate in the fact that she was eating healthy and things like that, But as I went along, we could tell that she really needed the support so, me and her both decided that it was just something that we needed to do what support her. So we did the meal plans with her.”

June said; “I do encourage them to lose weight but I mean, they’re teenagers…”
