Man Creates GoFundMe Page To “Protect” Betty White From The Clutches Of 2016!
There is no denying that 2016 has been a horrific year for celebrity deaths, both musicians and movie stars. Well, one man is not taking any chances with 94-year-old Golden Girl star, the much loved Betty White.Credit
On Tuesday, a few hours after we learned of the death of Star Wars icon, Carrie Fisher, he has launched a somewhat tongue in cheek GoFundMe page to “Help protect Betty White from 2016”. The aim is to prevent Betty from falling into the evil clutches of the dreaded year. The man behind this is Demetrios Hrysikos from Spartanburg in South Carolina.
The launch was before we heard even more tragic news that Carrie’s mother, Debbie Reynolds passed away after suffering a stroke the very next day. “Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan 1 , 2017,” wrote the witty Hrysikos.
2016 has seen far too many legends leave us from Prince and David Bowie on the music front to well-loved screen stars like Alan Thicke and Alan Rickman. In a brief moment of light-heartedness, amongst all the sad news, fans responded to the message Hrysikos posted, insisting the lovable star stays healthy and takes care.Credit
If you take Betty White from us this year, we will riot. Sincerely, The Human Population, the messages read. As per her representative, Jeff Witjas, Betty is on vacation and alive and well. He went on to say: “Betty and I have a deal. That she will live until at least 100,” adding. “As I have booked her to work and Betty’s word is Golden.”
He has proposed the money from the fund go to a deserving charity. Hrysikos responded that he planned to donate the funds raised to the Spartanburg Little Theatre. “We need new artists to carry the mantel of all the great ones we lost this year so keep sharing and donating to ensure a better 2017 for the arts,” he wrote.
The campaign exceeded its goal of $2,000 in the first day.
