Neil Patrick Harris Happily Celebrates 13 Years With David Burtka!
Congrats Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka as they celebrate 13 years together.
The well known actor who rose to fame from an early age in his role as Doogie Howser MD which started in the late 80s is now best known for his role as Barney Stinson in the hit series, How I Met Your Mother. He plays a suave, well dressed serial womaniser in the show, the consummate playboy.
Back in the real world, things are rather different, as they so often are. He recently celebrated his 13 year anniversary with husband, David Burtka saying the “Gifts Are Never Ending”.
In an Instagram post, Neil posted a photograph of himself with David and the couple’s son, Gideon. He captioned the photo “Thirteen years and one day ago, I crossed paths with the guy on the left. The adventures have never ceased,” “The love has never waned. The gifts are never ending (the guy on the right, e.g.). Happy Anniversary, @dbelicious. You’re the best.”
Although together for 13 years, they only officially married in 2014. While the ceremony was a small, intimate affair, it was far from low key and the reception saw performances from Elton John as well as a fireworks display. The lavish ceremony took place in Italy.
“Take that, George Clooney!” David said with Neil adding “Yeah, take that, Clooney. I don’t see you showing pictures of your wedding on talk shows!” The guests of honour at the nuptials were the couple’s fraternal twins.
David, who also played the villain in The Series of Unfortunate Events, is the proud father of six-year old twins Gideon and Harper. The twins came to them via a surrogate and the couple welcomed them into their lives in October 2010. They often share happy family pictures on Instagram.
Also making mention of their happy day on Instagram, Burtka, 41, shared a photo of husband Harris, 43, in a typical “Barney” pose. His caption read: “Yesterday was mine and @nph 13th year anniversary.!! Thank you Neil for being compassionate, adventurous, and an all around fantastic man. I love you more than ever.”
