Nicki Minaj Promised On Twitter To Pay Fans’ College Costs But There’s A Catch

Last Saturday night saw mega-music star Nicki Minaj doing something incredibly selfless. She spent her evening donating some of her earnings to help people pay for the cost of their education. Yes, you read that right.

There was a catch, however; she wouldn’t donate money to just anyone, it would only be to people who perform extremely hard at school and their grades reflect it. It all started with a completely different competition; Minaj said that there is a contest in which a fan wins the chance to join the Rapper-Singer at the Billboard Music Awards in Vegas or chill-out with her in the studio.

She made it very clear in a tweet she will also pay to have them flown in from any part of the world. So a twitter user decided to ask Minaj to help with people college tuition. The response was surprising, to say the least. Minaj stated she had no problem helping as long as she was helping hard workers with straight A’s. This prompted a new contest in which people were tweeting pictures of their grades as well as an explanation of their financial situation. Minaj responded to a couple dozen saying either ‘done’ or ‘send me your details’.

Michigan-based Nicki superfan Kyle Walsh attended Ball State University last year. He had a 4.0 GPA and was taking general chemistry, general physics and inquiries in the ancient world. Minaj responded with ‘how much do you need?’ Walsh couldn’t believe it. “While I am so incredibly moved, inspired, thankful and so much more, I have to say that I am not surprised!” Walsh told IndyStar via Twitter.

“She is, simply put, one of the most compassionate, caring and generous people in all of the entertainment industry! She is also incredibly smart. She really understands how this world works and just how important education is to being successful. So many times I have thought of her when wanting to give up and having to struggle through my academics, and her words and actions have continuously inspired me to achieve success. For that alone, I am forever indebted. And as far as she offer to provide monetary support to me personally, I truly can not put into words just how much gratitude I have!”

Minaj spent the evening paying tuitions, student loans, book fees and just helping out where she could. After midnight she announced the contest was over leaving it with a final tweet regarding the matter. ‘Ok, u guys. It’s been fun. Let me make those payments tmrw then see if I have any money left. I’ll do some more in a month or 2.”
